Apocalypse Facts and Fantasies
Foreword by Dr Alec R Passmore
When the writer of this significant book asked me to pen a foreword,
I felt tremendously honoured to be associated with such a scholarly
and intellectually satisfying work. The longer I plunged into its
pages, the more I realised the deep significance both of what is
written here and its timing. The whole world is moving towards a
great crisis. Millions of earth's inhabitants live in fear, facing
the future with universal apprehension. Devastating earthquakes,
pandemic diseases, the demise of democracies, global terrorism (much
of it increasingly seen as related to the intractable Middle East
conflict) all prompt in the minds of millions, the question,
"Where will it all end?" The Bible alone tells us the truth
about man's destiny, and lays out God's plan and purposes for the end
of time. And, puzzling for many, His plan is tied up with the destiny
of the people of the Jewish nation, Israel, which is being restored
before our very eyes!
From a lifetime study of Biblical theology, I regard Doctor Cameron's
book to be a 'landmark publication', deserving the urgent study of
every pastor and leader in the Church today. It is the result of some
fifty-seven years of Biblical research undertaken by the analytical
and concentrated mind of a man deeply committed to the Word of God
and the God of the Word.
Donald Cameron says he left school with no qualifications and no
confidence. Yet he advanced to a distinguished military career,
rising to the rank of Major, RAEC, and being appointed British
Liaison Officer to the Soviet Military Mission to the
Commander-in-Chief, British Army of the Rhine. Later his linguistic
skills and capable intellect were employed by Thorn EMI, Middlesex,
as Senior Staff Trainer.
The writer's deep commitment to Jesus Christ guided him in his life's
interests, and especially the study of God's inerrant Word. We are
deeply grateful for his profound and, I believe, compelling study of
Bible prophecy-the doctrine of the last things-in his many published
articles and in this book. The writer has applied his considerable
intellect to untangling the many differing and confusing views, which
have sadly deterred many from an open and honest response to the
divine Eschatos of Holy
Scripture. This gifted writer clears much of the fog of confusion
caused by conflicting and mistaken, though sometimes sincerely held
views. His closely reasoned and detailed treatment of schools with
differing claims is outstanding and most helpful. His assertion that
Israel is the key to a correct understanding is ably set forth.
The Church has been robbed of the 'purifying hope', and seems to live
as the secular world lives, without any awareness of the time on
God's 'prophetic clock' and of the call to "Awake out of
sleep!" (Romans 13:11). In the following pages you will discover
a "Reason for the hope that is in you" (I Peter 3:15).
This book will unlock the prophetic Scriptures, which have so long
been obscured, and even denied, through blind Anti-Semitic prejudice
and use of inconsistent hermeneutic. I find many unique insights into
God's amazing purposes for Israel and the world's future in these
engrossing pages! My prayer is that this scholarly work will provide
the urgent wake-up call the 21st century Church so badly needs.
